INTRODUCTION
St. John’s College of Nursing Student Nurses' Association (SNA) was started in the year 1989. The SNA provides educational programs, communicates issues and concerns relevant to nursing, encourages participation in community health-related activities and promotes legislative involvement of the nursing student
OBJECTIVES
SNA works to provide opportunity for personal, intellectual, professional and social growth of its members. Each nursing student is encouraged to cultivate leadership skills within the SNA
- To promote awareness and involvement in nursing and baccalaureate nursing education.
- To support the education of the student nurse as a professional.
- To provide education concerning contemporary health problems in campus and in the community.
- To encourage students to compete for prizes in the Student Nurses’ Exhibition and various competitions, and also to attend national and regional Conferences.
- To act as liaison between nursing students and unit, state and National level SNA.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ADVISOR
- Plan agendas and conduct SNA executive meeting
- The Advisor shall furnish annually the statement of student members, year wise of their units along with annual subscription to the national SNA advisor of the student nurses association to keep the unit membership up to date
- Obtain verbal report of assignments from SNA members
- Approve all SNA activities
- Maintains the funds related to SNA and maintains a record of it
CO-ORDINATORS
- Attend and participate in all SNA executive meetings
- Communicate with Advisor concerning any issues with SNA board of activities
- Act as liaison for nursing students
- Represent SNA in all matters
- Responsible for the coordination of student representatives
- Planning and Conducting student SNA executive election once a year in consultation with Principal & SNA advisor
SECRETARY
Act as vice –president in the absence of vice president
- Keep and maintain SNA calendar
- Maintenance of SNA diary
- Understand the problems of students
- Supervise and manage various problems of committees
- Encourage the committee members and students to participate in various programmes
- Take minutes of all SNA meetings & Keep the record of the proceeding of all meetings
- Take attendance of all SNA meetings
- Maintain SNA Bulletin Board
VICE PRESIDENT
- To supervise the functions of all committees
- Organize all programs which are held by SNA
- Should act as a representative for all the students
- Perform all duties assigned by advisor /coordinators
- Act in any advisory capacity to all committee
- Presentation of annual SNA report during graduation ceremony
SECRETARY
- Act as vice –president in the absence of vice president

- Encourage the committee members and students to participate in various programmes

TREASURER
- Oversee and present budgets, accounts and financial statements to management committee and executive board
- Funding, fund raising and sales
- Financial planning and budgeting
- Reporting of financial status and record keeping
PROGRAMME CO-ORDINATOR
- Responsible for planning and supporting the organization of programs and its related activities along with other executives
- Maintaining good communication and IPR with students
- Monitoring and supervising the activities of volunteers
- Maintaining records and files of programmes
- Encouraging students to take active participation in all programmes
SPORTS SECRETARY
- To coordinate the sports events occurring in college
- To coordinate with SNA body and coordinators
- Maintain the record of sport events that had taken place
- Motivate students to take part in various sports events
CLASS SNA REPRESENTATIVES :
- To serve as liaisons between their respective classes, the SNA and faculty.
- To relay SNA related information to their respective classes.
All members of the executive board will keep detailed records and procedures of their job responsibilities and committee functions.
