BACHELOR OF PHYSIOTHERAPY
The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) programme at St. John’s Physiotherapy College, introduced in 2016 and affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), is designed to train competent physiotherapy professionals through a balanced integration of theoretical instruction and extensive clinical training.
The curriculum covers core areas including Musculoskeletal, Neurological, Cardiorespiratory, Paediatric, Community, and Women’s Health Physiotherapy. Students gain hands-on clinical exposure across various specialty and super-specialty departments, enabling the development of strong skills in assessment, therapeutic intervention, rehabilitation planning, and patient-centred care.
The programme emphasizes evidence-based practice, preventive and promotive healthcare, professional ethics, and interdisciplinary collaboration, preparing graduates for practice in hospitals, rehabilitation centres, and community health settings.
ELIGIBILITY
Qualifying Examination A Candidate seeking admission to first year Bachelor in Physiotherapy (BPT): i) Should have passed two year Pre University examination conducted by Department of Pre- University Education, Karnataka State, with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually also. OR ii) Shall have passed any other examination conducted by Boards/Councils/Intermediate examination established by State Government/Central Government and recognized as equivalent to a two year Pre University Examination by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences/ Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually also. OR iii)Candidates who have completed Pre-university course with Vocational Physiotherapy as their optional subject are eligible for admission to BPT course.
DURATION OF THE COURSE
The duration of the BPT Course shall be four and half years including internship of six months.
