The Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery (CTVS) Department at St. John’s Medical College Hospital offers comprehensive, evidence-based surgical care for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular diseases in both adults and children. The department is supported by state-of-the-art operating theatres, a dedicated Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.

The department is committed to training competent perfusion technologists with strong clinical and academic foundations. Students receive extensive hands-on training in cardiopulmonary bypass, adult and paediatric cardiac surgeries, and advanced life support systems such as Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) and Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), under the guidance of experienced faculty and multidisciplinary clinical teams.

The Department of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery (CTVS) began its journey in allied health sciences with the introduction of the Bachelor of Science in Perfusion Technology (BSc PT) programme in 1999.

The allied health sciences courses offered by St. John’s Medical College are affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka, Bengaluru.
