Research Scholar

Sowmya H.R. is a mental health researcher with over fifteen years of experience in behavioral and community-based research. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at MAHE University, where her work focuses on problematic smartphone use among older adults in India. Using a mixed-methods approach, she explores how digital technology affects psychological well-being, sleep, social relationships, and daily functioning in aging populations across urban and rural settings. Her interests span digital addiction, geriatric mental health, women's mental health, common mental health disorders and  caregiver well-being in Autism Spectrum Disorder. She is committed to translating research into practical, culturally sensitive interventions that promote healthy and meaningful technology use in later life.
