The Division of Molecular Biology and Genetics stands at the forefront of precision medicine, operating as a dual-purpose entity that integrates complex clinical diagnostics with transformative translational research. Our mission is to provide definitive genomic insights today while engineering the therapeutic breakthroughs of tomorrow.
Our Clinical Diagnostics Service is built on a foundation of rigorous accuracy and comprehensive methodology. We offer a sophisticated spectrum of services, including Cytogenetics and FISH, advanced Genomics and Molecular Diagnostics, and Transplant Immunology. By providing meticulous HLA Typing and CDC Crossmatching, we ensure the highest standards of compatibility and safety for life-saving transplant procedures.
Parallel to our clinical mandate, our research wing is dedicated to dismantling the mechanisms of therapy resistance in aggressive solid tumors. With a primary focus on Cervical, Lung, and Breast cancers, we investigate the molecular signaling that allows malignant cells to evade treatment. Our internationally recognized work on the RhoC and ROCK2 signaling pathways continues to reshape contemporary understanding of metastatic progression.
The caliber of our scientific quest is reflected in our robust funding profile supported by prestigious national and international agencies including DBT, DST, ICMR, VGST, and RGUHS, alongside significant foreign funding partners. By integrating these resources with clinical observations, the Division goes beyond diagnosing disease—we uncover the fundamental biology of cancer to pave the way for next generation targeted therapies.
In addition to our clinical and research excellence, the Division is deeply committed to education and training. We actively teach postgraduate (PG) students, supervise multiple PhD scholars, and host structured internship and observership programs in Molecular Biology and Genetics. Our faculty also guide students undertaking MSc dissertation projects, fostering a rigorous academic environment that nurtures the next generation of scientists and clinician researchers.
