India Plastic Surgery Day – July 15, 2024

15th July is observed as India Plastic Surgery Day, a concept introduced in 2011 by Dr. Raja Sabapathy and recognised globally as World Plastic Surgery Day since 2021, reflecting India’s historic contribution to the specialty through Acharya Sushruta.

As part of the 2024 observance, and in response to the KAPRAS initiative to promote public awareness, the department offered one free complex reconstructive surgery to an underprivileged patient with Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) ankylosis. The procedure was performed by Dr. Vijay T. M. Joseph, Senior Professor, on 2nd July 2024.

This initiative highlights the department’s expertise in advanced reconstructive surgery and its continued commitment to compassionate care for the underprivileged.
