Experience

Has vast experience in the field of nephrology for 25 years. Has experience in treating complex renal diseases in general nephrology, autoimmune renal diseases, pregnancy renal disease, all varities of AKI and CKD. Has vast experience in managing hemodialysis, peritonial dialysis, CRRT, SLED and renal transplantation. 

Has experience in setting up hemodialysis unit at St. John's which has 50 hemodialysis machines with  state of the art set up with separate ITU dialysis and facility for virus positive patients. Has been part of a team which has complted nearly 700 renal transplants till date. 

Has set up interventional nephrology facility at St. John's Hospital.  

 

Areas of interest

Has special interest in interventional nephrology, POCUS (point of care ultrasound), use of bedside 2DEcho in managing renal patients. Has a keen interest in pregnancy associated renal diseases.

Has special interest in training youngsters and DM students in acquiring clinical skills to diagnose and treat renal diseases. Has also special interest in imparting communication skills with respect to health care to fellow doctors and health care personnel.

Has interest in medicolegal aspects of health care.

Has expertise in interventional nephrology inserting tunneled hemodialysis catheters, percutaneous peritoneal

dialysis catheters, renal transplantation.

  • Dr. Prashant G. Kedlaya was invited as a member of Board of Studies and Academics for the Super-specialty Department in M.S Ramaiah Deemed University, Bangalore.
  • Nominated in the Specialist Board of Nephrology as a Member by the Honorary Executive Director, National Board of Examination in Medical Science, New Delhi.

Has completed post graduate diploma in medical law and ethics from National Law India University, Bangalore.

  • Prabhu Veerabhadrappa Mudegowdra Memorial GOLD MEDAL for securing First Rank in Final MBBS in 1995, Kuvempu Unversity. 
  • Dr. C. Jagadish Sajjan Memorial GOLD MEDAL for securing First rank in final MBBS in 1995, Kuvempu University.
  • Certificate of Merit for securing first place in first MBBS in the year 1992.
  • Award for ‘Best Outgoing Student’ in the year 1995 from J.J.M.Medical College, Davangere.
  • First prize in API – QUIZ held at the Annual Conference of API & CSI, Bijapur in 1999.
  • Prof. H.L. Trivedi Gold Medal for securing first place in the field of Nephrology in National Board of Examinations in May 2004.
