Professor & Head, Department of psychiatry

I am a clinical psychiatrist, graduated from St. John’s Medical College, and later completed my postgraduate in psychiatry at the same institute. Currently, I am the Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry (SJMCH) and the Head of the Division of Mental Health and Neurosciences (SJRI). I am also a faculty at the Department of Medical Ethics and Institutional Ethics Committee. I was mentored by Dr. Srinivasan. K, Dr. Sunita Simon K, and Dr.Ashok.MV during my tenure as a postgraduate and junior faculty. I am involved in clinical services, teaching undergraduates, postgraduates, and nursing students, and involved in research.  I have completed my advanced course in Research Methodology and statistics. I have been involved in ICMR, NIH, and Investigator-initiated research studies. I also mentor undergraduates, postgraduates, nursing students, and faculty in mental health research. My areas of expertise include Community Psychiatry, Mental Health in NCDs, Alcoholism, Tobacco Control, Common mental disorders, and Biomarkers in ADHD.

Teaching experience: As of  January 2005, 21 years of experience in teaching psychiatry to undergraduate medical, nursing and other healthcare students. I am a recognized postgraduate teacher in psychiatry under Rajiv Gandhi of Health Sciences since 2015
